Days Fifty Eight thru Sixty Four....
(Large jump there, I know.....)
Easy and fun ride last Friday afternoon from Pulaski, NY to Wilson, NY (like, 162 miles or so). Hung out with my friends and spiritual advisers Judy and The Doctor and simply discussed the issues of the day (like how fucked up John McCain really is) over Yuengling Black and Tans and an absolute killer homemade shrimp and vermicelli dish.
Judy and The Doctor....
This pic out their bay window really doesn't do justice to the view. Behind the foliage lies Lake Ontario, and on an extremely clear day, one can easily see Toronto, Ontario on the other side of the lake (roughly sixty miles or so away on a straight 320-degree azimuth).
Saturday Morning, I took the 25 mile hop to Suburban Buffalo, where I grew up and did family stuff for most of the week: Was turned on to a really good defunct TV show from 1996 called Profit (WELL worth digging up - makes Enron and WorldCom seem like a minor offence, by comparison), got a roundhouse kick to my wallet at The Seneca Niagara Casino, fixed everybody's computers, had a cook out, and hung out for lunch with Jerry, Ivanna, Cole and Ty yesterday as they were up from Canton, GA visiting family as well. Nothing Earth-shattering.....
A couple of psychotic episodes with a few very unstable people pretty much determined that it is best to cut the Western New York segment short and turn the Helix towards the 280 degree bearing on the compass and head home.....back to Portlandia.
Headed off Thursday Afternoon (03 JULY 2008) to my friend Binkley's beachfront cottage on Lake Huron. Easy 300 kilometer ride from Buffalo that I had driven in a car literally dozens of times before.....
.....still managed to get lost this time around.
As I would not be returning to Buffalo, and since the rest of the crew were departing Buffalo at 11:30PM Thursday night (arriving at the cottage at 4AM or some shit like that in order to beat bridge/Canadian Customs traffic on the holiday), I took a pass on what basically would be an overnight car ride and took off a day earlier and settled into an absurdly over-priced (musta been the Scottish Festival this weekend?) crackerbox motel room in Kincardine, Ontario, about 6 miles from the cottage. Hopped over to one of my favourite watering holes, Gilley's, and had a couple Killer Kool-Aides whilst reminiscing about debaucherous nights there many moons ago.....
....those guys are still in the car somewhere near Kitchener, Ontario, as I type this.
More in a few days, when I head off towards Michiagn after a mellow three-dayer on the beaches of Lake Huron.....
